Six settings that actually save battery

Six settings that actually save battery

Battery panic is real when you're deep in a run and the warning pops up. Over the years I've collected a handful of settings tweaks that genuinely extend playtime without ruining how a game looks or feels.

Start with the frame rate cap. Many games default to the highest your screen supports. Capping at 30 or 60 instead of chasing 120 can nearly halve power draw, and in slower genres you won't notice.

Next, kill unnecessary effects. Particle density, bloom, and dynamic shadows are the usual battery hogs. Dropping them to medium often looks almost identical while running much cooler, which also helps performance on older phones.

Screen brightness is the quiet killer. Auto-brightness usually overshoots indoors. Nudge it down manually and you'll be surprised how much longer things last.

Finally, close background apps and turn on any in-game battery or low-power mode if it exists. None of these are dramatic on their own, but stacked together they've saved me a whole extra session more than once.
